Abstract:

The aim of this article is to analyze the lyricism of two great pieces of ancient classical poetry—Song of Songs(ŠIR HAŠŠIRIM) and the Book of Songs (Shijing). The specificity of the lyricism is underscored in the poematis personae of these two poetic works. Both of them use similes. But the former applies metaphoric language to depict with great skill the aesthetic aspects of reality, while the latter uses synecdochic language to highlight a strict ethical code. The former is bold while the latter is reserved. The essay further investigates the original meanings and the literary contents of these love songs.

Keywords:
