道家、道教对基督教的启发

Insights for Christianity from Daoism and Daoist Philosophy

Author: BAO Zhaohui, Nanjing University

Abstract:

This paper discusses the insights that Daoism can contribute to Christianity from four aspects, namely: respect for spontaneity, attention to creativity, emphasis on the way of looking, and a new perspective on body-life. Being one of the philosophies of ancient wisdom in the world, Daoism has unique ways of dealing with nature and human beings, which are different from Christianity as practiced by certain denominations in China today. The author hopes to offer an angle and method to observe Christianity from the Daoist perspective, which will reveal the limitations and insufficiencies of Christianity, the insights of which could inspire Christianity toward deeper self-reflection.
