The Discipline and Liberation of Canons: A Reflection Beginning with Paul Ricoeur's On Interpretation
Author: WANG Hai, Post-doctoral fellow, University of Glasgow
Abstract:
The process of being canonized is also a process of being disciplined. However, the reason why some texts are canonized is that those texts are able to provide us with abundant potentialities to liberate us from all kinds of identities and deconstruct the discipline caused by canonization. One important means of deconstruction is the act of “translation” that can constantly generate differences.
