Theology and Comtempory Philosophy: Review of the 9th Summer Institute on Theology and Humanities

 

Abstract:

This year the Summer Institute was co-sponsored by the School of Liberal Arts of Renmin University of China, the Institute for the Study of Christian Culture of Renmin University of China,  Shantou University & The Chinese University of Hong Kong Joint Center for Christian Studies, Center for Christian Studies of the College of Liberal Arts of Shantou University, United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, and the Hong Kong Institute of Sino-Christian Studies. This year the theme was “Theology and Contemporary Philosophy”. Ten distinguished scholars from University of Oxford (UK), King’s College London (UK), Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, and Renmin University of China attended the Summer Institute and gave lectures to young Chinese scholars from universities across China. Nearly 70 young teachers and Ph.D. candidates from more than 30 universities submitted papers and participated in it. This paper is a review of the lectures delivered by the scholars from home and abroad, and tries to present the main themes, content and significance of the Summer Institute.
